Hans Zyla

Hans Zyla (born September 5, 1919 in Aichhof , Schwechat municipality ; † February 15, 1999 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and construction clerk. From 1954 to 1979 he was a member of the Salzburg State Parliament and from 1973 to 1979 he was a member of the State Parliament Presidium in various positions.

education and profession

The son of Ukrainian immigrants attended primary school in Schwechat between 1925 and 1929 and then switched to the Neuland grammar school in Vienna , where he completed his schooling with the Matura . He then completed a degree in Slavic languages, literature and cultural history at the Universities of Prague and Vienna and acquired an interpreting diploma or teaching license. After doing his military service in World War II between 1940 and 1945, he became a teacher at the Salzburg Commercial Academy in 1945 . In 1949 he moved to the Salzburg Chamber of Labor as a chamber secretary and education officer, where he found employment until 1960. From 1960 to 1978 he was a member of the board of directors and managing director of various housing construction companies such as the construction trust-WEB-IMMAG.

Politics and functions

Zyla began his political engagement with the Austrian Youth Movement and the Austrian Workers' Association (ÖAAB). From 1947 to 1959 he acted as district chairman of the ÖAAB in Flachgau and was also regional chairman of the Austrian youth movement from 1949 to 1955. In 1959 he moved to the city of Salzburg as ÖAAB district chairman, where he held this position until 1961.

In the Austrian People's Party he was District Party Chairman of the Austrian People's Party in the city of Salzburg from 1961 to 1982. He was sworn in as a member of the Salzburg state parliament on December 11, 1954 and served as the club chairman of the Salzburg People's Party in the state parliament from 1963 to 1965. On February 22, 1963, he also took over the office of second deputy president of the state parliament, and on October 6, 1965, he was promoted to president of the state parliament. Zyla changed on May 14, 1974 to the post of First Deputy President of the State Parliament and on May 22, 1974 again changed his function in the State Parliament Presidium, where he took over the office of Third State Parliament President. In this capacity, Zyla finally resigned from the state parliament on May 15, 1979.

In addition to his political mandates, Zyla was also chairman of the board of the Salzburger Sparkasse from 1966 to 1984 and, from 1961, chairman of the supervisory board of the Salzburg airport operating company.
