Josef Hörl

Josef Hörl (born March 31, 1928 in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer ; † March 12, 2017 ) was an Austrian farmer and politician ( ÖVP ). He was a member of the Salzburg State Parliament (1964–1984) and President of the State Parliament (1979–1984).

education and profession

Hörl completed his compulsory schooling at the elementary school in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer and after the Second World War he attended the agricultural school in Bruck an der Großglocknerstrasse from 1946 to 1948 . From 1957 he worked as a self-employed farmer (Hanslbauer) in his home town of Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer.

Politics, offices and functions

Josef Hörl began his political career in local politics, where he was a member of the municipal council of Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer from 1959 to 1989. Between 1969 and 1977 he was also a member of the municipal council, and from 1977 to 1989 he held the office of Vice Mayor of Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer.

From June 19, 1964 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament, in which he represented the Austrian People's Party. From 1977 to 1979 he was the deputy chairman of the ÖVP state parliament club and was elected third president of the Salzburg state parliament on May 15, 1979, leaving the Salzburg state parliament in this capacity on May 15, 1984.

Within the party, Hörl was the main district chairman of the Salzburg People's Party in Pinzgau from 1959 to 1972 , and from 1963 to 1979 he was also the district chairman of the Pinzgau in the Salzburg Farmers' Union , one of the four groups of the People's Party.

Hörl also served as chairman of the supervisory board of the Pinzgauer dairy cooperative from 1958 to 1998, was a councilor of the Salzburg Chamber of Agriculture from 1970 to 1995 and chairman of the ARGE Pinzgauer cattle breeders from 1983 to 1995.
