State government Klaus II
The state government Klaus II forms the Salzburg state government in the 3rd legislative period under Governor Josef Klaus from the election of the state government on December 11, 1954 to the election of the successor government Klaus III on July 2, 1959.
With the amendment to the state constitutional law in 1954 (LGBl. No. 79/1954) the number of government members was increased from five to seven people. The balance of power hardly changed after the state elections in 1954 . The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) was given the right to three government seats, with a provincial council as well as the provincial governor and the second deputy governor. The Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ) was also able to win three government seats and, as before, provided the First Deputy Governor and two regional councilors instead of one. The Salzburg electoral party of the Independents (WdU) was able to hold its previous seat of government, but in 1956 it was incorporated into the newly founded Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ).
During the term of office of the state government Klaus II there was only a change in the government team in 1956. After Josef Horak (SPÖ) left the government on January 31, 1956, Josef Kaut succeeded him as regional councilor on the same day .
