State government of Schausberger I
The state government of Schausberger I formed the Salzburg state government under Governor Franz Schausberger between 1996 and 1999. After the resignation of Governor Hans Katschthaler , Franz Schausberger took over the office of Governor on April 24, 1996. He headed the state government until the state government of Schausberger II was sworn in on April 27, 1999.
Government members
With the exception of the post of governor, the composition of the government initially remained unchanged after the resignation of Hans Katschthaler. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) continued to provide three members of the government, including the governor and the deputy governor. The Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ) had two government offices: the First Deputy Governor and a Regional Councilor. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) also provided two government members with two state councilors.
After the change of governor, the resignation of Regional Councilor Rupert Wolfgruber (ÖVP) on April 22, 1997 brought about another change in the government. He was followed on April 23, 1997 by Josef Eisl . On October 24, 1997, Karl Schnell (FPÖ) left the government after a motion of no confidence. He was replaced on November 12, 1997 by Margot Hofer .
