The provincial government of Josef Rehrl under governor Josef Rehrl was from 1947 to 1949 the third provincial government of Salzburg after the Second World War .

Franz Rehrl , Josef Rehrl's brother, had been governor from 1922 to 1938 before the Second World War. Josef Rehrl's direct predecessor Albert Hochleitner was elected governor by the Salzburg state parliament on December 12, 1945 . On December 4, 1947, he resigned due to alleged irregularities in a citizenship award, his successor was Josef Rehrl.

In 1948 the Rehrl state government tried to re-annex the Rupertiwinkel , which had been in Bavaria since 1810 or 1816 , to Salzburg. The former district of Berchtesgaden (with Bad Reichenhall and the surrounding area) should also be included . On this occasion, Rehrl wanted to expand the Salzburger Land right up to the Traun and the Alz . However, the population of the region was largely negative about the whole thing, and the Bavarian Prime Minister Hoegner also announced resolute resistance, so that the project could not be implemented. After internal disputes within the ÖVP, Josef Rehrl was replaced. On December 1, 1949, Josef Klaus was elected governor with 19 out of 25 votes.
