State government Katschthaler II
The state government Katschthaler II forms the Salzburg state government in the 11th legislative period under Governor Hans Katschthaler from the election of the state government on May 2, 1994 to the resignation of Katschthalers and the election of Franz Schausberger as the new governor on April 24, 1996.
With the state elections in 1994 , the balance of power in the state government shifted for the fifth time in a row, with the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) losing the absolute majority it had won in 1984. While the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) was able to hold its two government seats, the ÖVP lost one of its four government seats to the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), which for the first time in its history had two government members.
With the exception of the change caused by the shift in power, the previous Katschthaler I government entered the new government period unchanged. Due to the loss of mandate from the ÖVP, the previous state councilor Gerheid Widrich was no longer a member of the government, and Robert Thaller moved into the government as the new FPÖ state councilor . During the term of office of the Katschthal II government, there were no changes in the government team until Katschthaler's resignation.
