Functions

Landtag President

Despite the fact that the SPÖ had become the party with the strongest mandate, the ÖVP received the right to the first president of the state parliament. Originally, Hans Scharfetter provided for the post, but he was injured the day before the election so strong that he could not attend the first session of the Diet. Illmer resigned from the office of President of the State Parliament on June 9, 2009, whereupon Scharfetter took over the office of President of the State Parliament after his inauguration on June 10. Due to the consequences of the injury, however, Scharfetter resigned from his position as President of the State Parliament on August 31, 2009 and was replaced by Simon Illmer on September 16, 2009.

Gudrun Mosler-Törnström was elected to the post of Second President of the State Parliament on April 22nd, according to the party agreement of the SPÖ and ÖVP no third President of the State Parliament was elected.
