List of Members of the Salzburg State Parliament (2nd legislative period)

This list of members of the Salzburg state parliament (2nd legislative period) lists all the members of the Salzburg state parliament in the 2nd legislative period or 6th electoral period. The legislative period lasted from the constitution of the Landtag on December 1, 1949 to December 10, 1954. The constitution of the subsequent Landtag of the 3rd legislative period took place on December 11, 1954.

After the state elections in 1949 , 12 of the 26 seats went to the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP), which lost three seats compared to 1945. The Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ) won one less than before with nine seats. For the first time in the state parliament was the electoral party of the independents with five mandates, the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) was not successful in the re-entry into the state parliament.

After the members of the state parliament had been sworn in, the constituent meeting on December 1, 1949, elected the state government, Klaus I , succeeding the state government of Rehrl .

Functions

Landtag President

In the second legislative period, the politician Franz Hell (ÖVP), who has been in office since 1945, took over the office of President of the State Parliament . The function of First Deputy President of the State Parliament also remained unchanged with Franz Illig (SPÖ). On the other hand, Karl Wimmer (ÖVP) replaced the previous incumbent Josef Ausweger (ÖVP) in the office of second deputy state parliament president . The election of the three functions took place on the day the Landtag was constituted, December 1, 1949. After Karl Wimmer left the Landtag on March 20, 1952, Andreas Viehauser was elected to the post of Second Deputy President of the Landtag on May 28, 1952 .
