General

Wunstorf probably developed from a canonical convent , which Bishop Dietrich von Minden founded in 865. The exact location of the monastery is unknown. Wunstorf was referred to as a city as early as 1181.

Sigward Church The church was built from 1129 to 1134. The client was Bishop Sigward von Minden . The Hanoverian building councilor Conrad Wilhelm Hase was able to prevent the threatened demolition of the Sigward Church in 1888 and built a new neo-Gothic building opposite. An important religious building from the 12th century was preserved. In the years 1930 to 1934 the painting was finally completely exposed.
