General
Wunstorf probably developed from a canonical convent , which Bishop Dietrich von Minden founded in 865. The exact location of the monastery is unknown. Wunstorf was referred to as a city as early as 1181.

Sigward Church | The church was built from 1129 to 1134. The client was Bishop Sigward von Minden . The Hanoverian building councilor Conrad Wilhelm Hase was able to prevent the threatened demolition of the Sigward Church in 1888 and built a new neo-Gothic building opposite. An important religious building from the 12th century was preserved. In the years 1930 to 1934 the painting was finally completely exposed. Since then, extensive renovation and maintenance measures have been carried out continuously. |
