Evangelical town church | Marketplace (Ca) 1 | 1471-1506, 1612-1613 | As the only one of the four large Gothic churches in Stuttgart, the city church was hardly damaged in the Second World War. In the place where it stands, there was already a church at the time of Charlemagne . In 1471, the late Gothic town church built by Jörg Aberlin was consecrated, as can be seen from the date above the central choir window and the builder's star coat of arms. The original lower Gothic tower was replaced by a Renaissance tower by Heinrich Schickhardt. Inside, this stone tower is supported by a second wooden tower that redirects the vibrations of the bells to the foundations. The three central choir windows destroyed in the war were replaced in 1963 by windows designed by Wolf-Dieter Kohler . They show the heavenly Jerusalem as the kingdom of God. Architects Aberlin Jörg (1471–1508), Heinrich Schickhardt (upper tower floors 1612–1613) Protected according to § 12 DSchG
