Julius Charig (1897 – approx. 1942) Julius Charig was born in Obslaufen and served as a volunteer in World War I from 1915 . After the end of the war he studied law and worked as a lawyer from 1925, first in Emden and Berlin, then from 1929 in Stendal. After the National Socialists came to power in 1933, he was denied access to the court, and in October 1938 his lawyer license was completely withdrawn. An escape plan with his wife Ilse failed. He was deported via Magdeburg , Potsdam and Berlin to the Warsaw Ghetto , where he arrived on April 14, 1942 and later died. The stone was stolen in 2006. In 2011 he was replaced and a stone was laid for his wife and a stone in front of his former office. |
