List of stumbling blocks in Burg (near Magdeburg)

The list of stumbling blocks in Burg (near Magdeburg) contains all the stumbling blocks that were laid by Gunter Demnig in Burg (near Magdeburg) as part of the art project of the same name . They are intended to commemorate the victims of National Socialism who lived and worked in Burg. Between 2013 and 2019, a total of 34 stones were laid at 13 addresses.

The stumbling blocks at Breiten Weg 15 were smeared by strangers on the night of April 4th and 5th, 2013.

Abraham Fraymund came from Warsaw and later moved to Burg. There he married Mira geb. Throat fish. The couple had three children. On March 7, 1939, he emigrated to Belgium with his family . After the German occupation, he was deported via Mechelen to Auschwitz , where he arrived on September 26, 1942 and was murdered on December 4.

March 7, 2015 Bezalel Neumann (1904–1962)

Bezalel Neumann was born in Burg as the son of Chaim and Ruth Neumann. He ran a fashion store in his birthplace. With his wife and three children, he fled to England in 1933 and later via Italy to Palestine . He died in Haifa in 1962 .

Chaim Emma Neumann (1874–1940)

Chaim Neumann was born in Porohy near Nadwórna . He later lived in Burg and Wiesbaden and worked as a merchant. He was arrested on November 23, 1939 and deported to Sachsenhausen concentration camp , where he died on February 18, 1940.

David Neumann was born in Burg as the son of Chaim and Ruth Neumann. As part of the “ Poland Action ”, he and a large part of his family were driven across the Polish border near Bentschen in October 1938 . The family settled in Nadworna, the birthplace of their father. David Neumann died there in February 1940.
