List of tributaries of the Nagold

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nagold is a river that runs mainly on the eastern edge of the northern Black Forest . It rises less than 2 km away from the source of the Enz and about twice as far from the course of the Rhine tributary Murg . On its upper reaches, it flows in large curves eastwards to Nagold , where its second largest tributary, the Waldach, flows into it. Here it has about 40% of its course behind it, then it moves consistently northwards in the Waldach direction, partly with valley meanders, first to Calw , where it has completed half of its remaining course, and then to the confluence in Pforzheim . On its long northern course, the last tributary Würm approach from the right like the receiving Enz from the left at a very flat angle, they also converge almost at the same point, which is why in this laterally more and more narrow section of the catchment area only the left Teinach below its tributaries again exceeds the length of 10 km.

The Nagold has a length of 90.7 km, a catchment area of 1,144.3 km² and five tributaries of over 10 km in length, namely

  • the right Zinsbach with 13.3 km and 33.8 km²,
  • the left Köllbach with 10.0 km and 29.9 km²,
  • the right Waldach with 24.7 km and 157.1 km²,
  • the left Teinach with 15.4 km and 61.5 km²,
  • the right Würm with 53.9 km and 418.3 km².

If, according to the hydrological principle and contrary to the norm, one wanted to evaluate the receiving Enz as a tributary of the Nagold, this would be added as follows:

  • the left Enz with 47.0 km and 327.6 km².
