The list of French AOP cheeses lists cheeses that have received the Appellation d'Origine Protégée (AOP), formerly Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) , German: Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) .

- PMCN: soft cheese with a natural rind
- PMCL: soft cheese with washed rind, red smear cheese
- PMCF: soft cheese with a white mold coating
- PP: mold cheese
- PPNC: hard cheese
- PPC: hard cheese, heated
- FF: cream cheese
- Ff: processed cheese
