List of German animated films

This is a list of German animated films that are distinguished by the fact that they were either drawn, made on the computer or through stop-motion . Films that only partly consist of animations, like Werner - Beinhart! or Lola runs are not on this list.

Prost Neujahr 1910 is counted as the first German animation film. The first full-length animated film is the silhouette film Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed by Lotte Reiniger from 1926. In 1937, The Seven Ravens was the first full-length puppet film. With Tobias Knopp - Adventures of a stag , the first feature-length animated film of 1949 postwar completed. The first German stereoscopic 3D animation film was released in 2010 with a remake of the Conference of Animals .

So far, two German productions, Balance and Quest , have each won the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film .
