Werner - ice cold! is the fifth film about the comic figure Werner by the cartoonist Rötger Feldmann . As in the first part of the series, Werner - Beinhart! , cartoon sequences are embedded in a story that is played by people. The film was produced by Herman Weigel and Oliver Berben for Trickompany Filmproduktion and first shown in German cinemas on June 23, 2011 via Constantin Film Produktion .
background
During a panel discussion at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2006, Rötger Feldmann mentioned that it was slowly time to produce a fifth Werner film. Filming began in July 2009 in and around Kiel.
action
The famous but impoverished comic artist Brösel just drew his 13th episode about the character "Werner", which his publisher does not want to publish because manga has now conquered the market. Brösel drives to Corsica disappointed. On the beach he wants to impress the bathing beauties Mandy and Barbara with a "flat head", a dive into the knee-deep water, but he apparently loses his life in the process. His body ends up in the cold room of the morgue, but his mind continues to participate in the action.
When his greedy publisher Seidel learned of the accident in Kiel, he stole Brösel's latest drawings in order to exploit his death commercially. Brösel's friends, Presi, Herbert, Röhre, Walze, Holgi and Brösel's brother Andi, from the northern German town of “Knöllerup”, all of which he immortalized in his drawings over the last 30 years, are meanwhile stealing in a night-and-fog campaign Brösel's corpse to be taken back home.
Brösel himself and all other people remember his work around the character Werner, in which he sees himself, and the competition between him and his school friend Holgi, which begins in childhood, with the race and the event on the Hartenholm Airfield will continue and probably never end.
Numerous animated film sequences that refer to Feldmann's entire oeuvre are inserted into this framework.
Reviews
Werner - ice cold! received multiple negative reviews. The magazine TV Spielfilm gave the lowest rating and wrote as a conclusion: "The comic relic annoys with old flat-top gags". The online portal Filmstarts awarded one of five possible points and described the film as a “low point”. The film-dienst judged: "The mixture of animated scenes and real film has some amusing slapstick moments in the animation passages, but suffocates the material that has fallen out of time with an overkill of fecal humor and suggestive jokes."
Legal action for uploading to YouTube
The film distributor Constantin failed in an urgent procedure against the Internet portal YouTube . The distributor asked the video portal to hand over the user data of an uploader who had made parts of the film publicly available. However, this copyright infringement does not justify any claim to information about the alleged perpetrator's data, ruled first by the Munich District Court I and, in the last instance, in 2011 by the Munich Higher Regional Court . Constantin-Film can now pursue a main proceedings. Regardless of this, the film sequences on YouTube were deleted immediately. The OLG justified the decision with the fact that the alleged perpetrator did not violate copyright law "on a commercial scale" by uploading the film parts.
