List of alumina factories

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of aluminum oxide factories includes plants with an annual output of> 1 million t that produce aluminum oxide from bauxite . The list is not complete. A comprehensive list of plants worldwide can be found in the specified source.

General

According to the USGS , global production of bauxite rose from 245 million t in 2014 to an estimated 274 million t in 2015. The three largest producers of bauxite in 2014 were Australia (78.6 million t), China (55 million t). t) and Brazil (34.8 million t). The global reserves of bauxite are estimated at 55 to 75 billion t.

The global production of aluminum oxide rose from 108 million t in 2014 to an estimated 118 million t in 2015. The three largest producers of aluminum oxide in 2014 were China (47.8 million t), Australia (20.5 million t ) and Brazil (10.6 million t).

The USGS states the average US import price for aluminum oxide at USD 410 per ton in 2015, while import prices for bauxite in the same year were USD 28 per ton.

As a rule of thumb: four tons of bauxite are needed to produce two tons of aluminum oxide and one ton of aluminum can be obtained from two tons of aluminum oxide.
