Live My Life is a song by the US hip-hop band Far East Movement that was recorded in collaboration with Canadian singer Justin Bieber . It was first released on February 28, 2012 as the first single from Far East Movements album Dirty Bass , after it had been announced on February 24. The song was produced by RedOne and De Paris and released on the Interscope Records and Cherrytree Records labels . In terms of content, the lyrics deal with a visit to a wild party.

Far East Movement band members said they were thrilled to have Bieber on their album ("We're thrilled to have Justin be a part of Dirty Bass") and added that they wanted to get on "unexpected collaborations" like this one focus. Compared to MTV News they thanked Bieber for “being part of our world” (“We got to thank him for being in our world for us”).

One day before its release, the song was featured on Digital Spy as one of the 10 tracks you need to hear playlist created by Robert Copsey and Lewis Corner .

Music video

The official music video for the song was shot in Amsterdam . Justin Bieber himself was not present during the shoot because he felt too stressed. Instead, the LMFAO group made an appearance in the clip. The music video was first released on YouTube on April 5, 2012 . It is four minutes and 43 seconds long. On August 12, 2012, the video had over 12.5 million views. The video was shot in Party Rock Remix with RedFoo by LMFAO .

The single was able to reach the charts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States and a few other countries. In Germany it moved up to number eight and stayed in the charts for a total of 17 weeks. In Austria it reached number 20 and was in the charts for 14 weeks. In Switzerland it reached number 6; here she stayed in the charts for 17 weeks. It ranked 7th in the UK and was in the top 100 for 6 weeks. 21st in the United States and 4th in Canada.

criticism

Jessica Dawson from Common Sense Media gave the song a medium rating and said: “Maybe it's the underground influence, or their fashion flair, but 'Live My Life' is sure to be another hit for this foursome. In addition, including the ubiquitous JB was a smart call since he is sure to bring his legions of devoted young fans with him. ”She also awarded three out of five possible stars.
