Never Say Never: The Remixes is the second remix album by Canadian musician Justin Bieber . It was released on February 14, 2011 and accompanied the release of the 3D music film Justin Bieber: Never Say Never , which was released on February 11, 2011 in the US in theaters. In Germany, where the album was released on February 18, 2011, it reached number 72 in the charts. In the US, it reached number one, making it Bieber's second number one album. The CD comprises a total of seven songs, four of which are remixes of tracks from his first studio album My World 2.0 and one is a live performance with Miley Cyrus . Two songs were new, " Never Say Never " had already been used as the theme song for the film Karate Kid .
background
In early January 2011, rumors arose for the first time that Bieber would release new music in connection with his upcoming movie Justin Bieber: Never Say Never . On January 6, the singer's manager Scooter Braun announced that fans could expect new music around Valentine's Day . Also in January, songwriter Diane Warren said she recently finished work on a song called "Born to Be Somebody." The title should appear on an album in support of Bieber's film. Musician Ester Dean also confirmed that she was involved in a musical project related to Bieber's film. The country band Rascall Flats and the pop and R&B musician Chris Brown had already confirmed in 2010 that they would be working with the Canadian singer on new music. Initially, however, it was not about songs for a remix album by Bieber, but generally about a musical collaboration for a subsequent studio album by the singer.
On January 31st, it was confirmed in an official announcement that a music album would be released to accompany the upcoming film, which will be available from February 14th, the Monday after the weekend of the cinema release.

success
reception
Margaret Wappler rated the album positively in general, saying that "the album's cleverest quality is the high number of different aspects of pop music, never spoiling the purity of Bieber's enthusiasm, which is both cartoon-like and genuine". In addition, she highlighted the selection of guest musicians that she thought was positive. With the help of Jaden Smith and Miley Cyrus , he serves both his teenage fans, and through Kanye West and Raekwon he also gains credibility with the “cool kids”. Nevertheless, through his "innocence", Bieber neutralized any kind of sex appeal that West and Raekwon developed. Sabrina Cognate was of the opinion that the album, which "legitimizes the teenage dream", replaced brevity with vigor despite only seven tracks. In addition, the album would be suitable for “people from all walks of life”.
