history

Locktow was first mentioned in 1275 as Luzede . In the following time, the place name of Lokede changed in 1303 to Logkte in 1427 to the present place name. The place name probably comes from the Polish word loket , which means elbow .

The Locktower village church is a field stone building from the 14th or 15th century. An inscription from 1407 can be found in the church. The church has a pulpit from 1700 and an old altar that was restored around 1846 . The organ on the west gallery was built in 1848 by Wilhelm Baer in Niemegk and restored in 1935 by the Schuke company from Potsdam . During a restoration in 1914, medieval wall paintings were discovered on the north and south pores depicting the entry of Christ into Jerusalem .

Locktow has always been in the Kingdom of Prussia and there in the administrative district of Potsdam . On July 1, 1950, the community Ziezow was incorporated into Locktow. On July 25, 1952, the community was assigned to the then newly formed Belzig district in the Potsdam district . After the reunification , Locktow was in the Belzig district in Brandenburg and joined the Brück office on February 11, 1992 . After the district reform in Brandenburg on December 6, 1993 , the community Locktow finally came to the newly formed district of Potsdam-Mittelmark . On June 1, 2002, Locktow was merged with the previously independent municipalities of Dahnsdorf , Kranepuhl and Mörz to form the new municipality of Planetal . With the community merger, Locktow moved to the office of Niemegk .
