Prudential RideLondon & Surrey Classic

The Prudential RideLondon & Surrey Classic is a British road bike race .

The one-day race was first held on August 14, 2011 under the name London Surrey Cycle Classic and served as a test for the route of the cycle race of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London . The race was driven over a distance of 140 km on the planned course for the Olympic road race and belonged to the UCI Europe Tour in category 1.2 . The winner was the Briton Mark Cavendish , who prevailed in the mass sprint of the field.

The competition was held in 2013 in category 1.1 under the name Ride London Classic and in 2014 in category 1.HC under the name Prudential RideLondon Classic before it was given its current name. The competition was added to the UCI WorldTour calendar starting with the 2017 season .

From 2016 to 2019, the race was also held for women as part of the UCI Women's WorldTour . With prize money of 100,000 euros, it was the most highly endowed one-day race in women's cycling. At the 2019 event, there was a mass fall of seven riders around 100 meters from the finish. The Dutchwoman Kirsten Wild crossed the finish line first, but was later disqualified because she had caused the fall.
