Charlotte Lang-Binder (born January 11, 1900 in Vienna ; † February 13, 1985 there ) was an Austrian actress .

Life

After completing a business school and temporarily working as an office typist, Lotte Lang made the decision to train as an actress. In 1925 she made her debut at the Linz State Theater , where she stayed until 1928. Engagements in Hamburg , Brno and at the Münchner Kammerspiele followed . In 1932 she went to Vienna to the Volkstheater , played at the Raimundtheater , the Volksoper and finally at the Theater in der Josefstadt , to which she remained loyal from 1945 to the end of the 1970s and where she was successful in over 50 roles.

Lotte Lang had her first film appearance in 1932 in Die Zwei vom Süddexpress . Gradually, with pointed supporting roles and self-confident demeanor, she established herself as a popular actress, consistently until the early 1960s. When the offers for movies declined, she played more for the newly emerging television.

Lotte Lang mostly embodied typical, resolute (Viennese) female characters, but not bitingly, rather with wit.

Her honorary grave is located at the Vienna Central Cemetery (group 40, number 124). In 2008 Lotte-Lang-Platz in Vienna- Landstrasse (3rd district) was named after her.
