Louis von Woide

Louis Sylvius Gotthold Woide , since 1871 von Woide (born February 28, 1809 in Ober-Luzine, Oels district , † January 27, 1881 in Erfurt ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and inspector of the 3rd artillery inspection.

Life

Louis was a son of the Prussian Rittmeister and district officer of the Oberschlesischen Gendarmerie Gottlieb Woide (1766-1828) and his wife Johanna, née Hirsekorn (* 1777).

Military career

After attending grammar school in Schweidnitz , Woide joined the 5th Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army as a gunner on October 1, 1825 . He graduated from the United Artillery and Engineering School in 1828/30 and advanced to secondary lieutenant by the end of February 1831 . Woide was sent to the General War School for further training in 1835/38 . In 1841 he worked as a teacher at the artillery and engineering school and as a member of the board of directors. On March 21, 1847, he was transferred to the 1st Artillery Brigade and was promoted to Prime Lieutenant . There he came on December 26, 1848 as a captain and company commander in the fireworks department . On July 1, 1853, he was transferred to the 4th Artillery Regiment and on December 1, 1855, he was commanded as an adjutant to the General Inspectorate of Artillery . In addition, he was again a member of the board of directors of the artillery and engineering school. Left in his position, Woide was promoted to major on April 2, 1857 , and appointed department commander in the 6th Artillery Regiment on June 4, 1857 . There he was on 18 October 1861 Lieutenant Colonel and on March 22, 1863 Patent of 17 March 1863 Colonel promoted. On 9 January 1864 it appointed him Chief of Trains , plus he became à la suite of Garde-Train Battalion asked. On June 11, 1864, he received the Order of St. Anne II. Class. From March 21, 1865 he was also a voting member of the General Artillery Committee. On January 1, 1866, he also became a member of the Court of Justice for Competence Conflicts, on December 31, 1866, he was promoted to major general with a patent from October 30, 1866. On June 25, 1867, he received the Order of St. Stanislaus, First Class.

Due to illness, Woide took a six-week vacation to Bad Liebenstein on April 29, 1871 to restore his health . In recognition of his services , Emperor Wilhelm I elevated him to the hereditary Prussian nobility on May 16, 1871 . On August 18, 1871 he was promoted to lieutenant general and on September 21, 1871 appointed inspector of the 3rd artillery inspection in Breslau . In this capacity he received the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves, in January 1873 on the occasion of the festival . At the beginning of July 1873, Woide took a two-month vacation in Switzerland. However, since no improvement occurred in his health, he was on 16 September 1873 Pension for disposition made. He died on January 27, 1881 in Erfurt.

family

Woide married on September 10, 1846 in Neubrandenburg Friederike Wilhelmine Pfuhl (1821–1871), a daughter of the doctor Heinrich Wilhelm Pfuhl from Penzlin. The marriage remained childless and after her death on June 27, 1871, she was buried in the Invalidenfriedhof .
