Louis von der Groeben

Louis von der Groeben (born August 27, 1842 in Arenstein ; † August 12, 1904 there ) was a German manor owner and member of parliament in East Prussia.

Life

Louis was a son of the gentleman on Arenstein and Tiefensee Theodor von der Groeben (1805-1863) and his wife Valeska, born von Wrangel (1808-1884).

Career

Groeben attended the old town high school and the university in Königsberg . In 1862 he joined the Prussian Army and in 1863 became Second Lieutenant in the 8th Pomeranian Infantry Regiment No. 61 . He took part in the war against Austria in 1866 and in the war against France in 1870/71 . By 1875 he was promoted to captain and company commander in the Westphalian Fusilier Regiment No. 37 in Posen . In 1876 Groeben took his leave .

He was the owner of an estate in Arenstein and sat in the Prussian House of Representatives from 1879 to 1885 . For the German Conservative Party , he represented the Reichstag constituency of Königsberg 5 in the German Reichstag from 1893 to 1903 . In 1894 he was appointed to the Prussian manor house .

Groeben was a legal knight of the Order of St. John and he died shortly before his 62nd birthday.

family

He married Bertha Linde (* 1845) on September 20, 1867. The sons Kurt (* 1868) and Paul Theodor (* 1885) emerged from the marriage.
