album My World

Love Me is a song by the Canadian musician Justin Bieber . It was released on October 26, 2009 as a promotional sound carrier from his debut EP My World , after which it placed in the charts in Canada, the USA and the UK, among others. Some elements of the title were taken from the song " Lovefool " by the Swedish rock band The Cardigans .

background

The song was recorded at Serenity Sound Studio in Cincinnati , Ohio . The production took place in Side 3 Studios in Denver ( Colorado ). The mixing took place in the Larrabee Studios in North Hollywood instead.

Originally, Bieber announced that the third single from the EP would be an acoustic remix of the first single, " One Time ". This should appear on October 27, 2009. A week before the release date, however, the plans were changed and "Love Me" was selected as the new release.

Music video

The music video was shot by Alfredo Flores and shown for the first time on August 3, 2010. Bieber acted as co-director. The singer said in an interview that the video is intended as recognition for his fans around the world. He wanted to thank them with the help of the clip.

The video mainly consists of Bieber's live performances, some backstage sequences and rehearsals for concerts. Fan meetings can also be seen, as well as Usher, known as Bieber's mentor .

success

reception

The song was received mostly positively. The Washington Post, for example, rated it one of the best EP My World and described it as a "simple club song". Mike Diver wrote in his review that the title was “a reinterpretation of the song“ Lovefool ”by the band The Cardigans, soaked in electronic music .” Bieber also had “the right attitude”, which was “playful” and “lovable”. The New York Times said the song "is probably the only thing in the recent past that has owed two members of The Cardigans debt".

Commercial win

The song did not reach the charts in much of Europe. It only made it into the charts in the United Kingdom. There the title rose to number 71 and dropped out again after a week. In the Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100 , he was much more successful, he reached number 37 and twelfth there.
