Lucio Soravito De Franceschi (born December 8, 1939 in Mione di Ovaro , † July 6, 2019 in Udine ) was an Italian clergyman , pastoral theologian and Roman Catholic bishop of Adria-Rovigo .

Life

Lucio Soravito De Franceschi studied philosophy and theology at the Diocesan Seminary in Castellerio and in Udine. He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1963 . He graduated from the Salesian Pontifical University with a degree in pastoral theology . From 1963 to 1999 he worked in pastoral care in Udine. From 1968 he was director of the diocesan catechetical office and from 1983 coordinator of diocesan pastoral care. He also worked from 1984 to 1999 as episcopal vicar for the laity. From 1988 to 1999 he was general assistant of the Diocesan Catholic Action and from 1984 canon of the Metropolitan Chapter and from 1999 pastor of the Cathedral of Udine and city vicar.

As the author of numerous catechetical publications and articles in pastoral journals, he taught at the Interdiocesan Seminary in Udine from 1977 and from 1991 at the Theological Faculty in Northern Italy , Padua Department, Pastoral and Catechesisology.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Adria-Rovigo on May 29, 2004 . The Archbishop of Udine , Pietro Brollo , gave him episcopal consecration on July 11th of the same year; Co-consecrators were Alfredo Battisti , Old Archbishop of Udine , and Paolo Romeo , Apostolic Nuncio in Italy and San Marino . The inauguration took place on July 18 of the same year. His motto is Gaudete in domino semper .

On December 23, 2015, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
