Ludwig Ferdinand Friedrich von Heising (born January 5, 1738 , † July 10, 1809 in Ohlau ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and chief of the cuirassier regiment "von Schlitz" .

Life

origin

Heising comes from a farming family. His father Dietrich Ferdinand von Heising (* 1703), as a Prussian major in the cuirassier regiment No. 5, was raised to the nobility due to his bravery .

Military career

Heising was employed as a standard junker in the cuirassier regiment "von Brandenburg-Schwedt" of the Prussian army in 1753 and was promoted to cornet on October 4, 1756 . During the Seven Years' War he took part in the battles near Lobositz , Prague , Leuthen , Kay , Kunersdorf , Leignitz , Torgau , Freiberg as well as the battles near Maxen and the sieges of Prague , Breslau , Schweidnitz and Dresden . He was wounded at Kay and promoted to lieutenant on April 6, 1758. On November 2nd, 1768 Heising was admitted to the nobility. Soon afterwards he was on May 7, 1769 staff assistant master and on June 14, 1772 Rittmeister and company commander . He took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession and became major on December 9, 1780 . On May 20, 1789, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on September 27, 1790, Heising was promoted to regimental commander. In the process, Colonel von Brause was ignored, who, in the king's opinion, was unsuitable for command. Heising himself became a colonel on May 20, 1791. During the revue in Stargard he received the order Pour le Mérite on June 4, 1792 .

On August 6, 1794, he and his regiment were set off for Poland. On September 12, 1797, King Friedrich Wilhelm II appointed him chief of the cuirassier regiment "von Schlitz". For this he received his promotion to major general on May 20, 1798 with a patent from May 26, 1798. On May 20, 1805, he was promoted to lieutenant general with a patent from May 22, 1805. When the Fourth Coalition War broke out, Heising was no longer used itself, which angered the general very much. After the Peace of Tilsit he received his resignation and 1200 thalers pension on October 10, 1807 , but was initially set on half pay. He wanted to keep the commanders' house in Ohlau, but only received one right of residence . He was only to have it long until a new head of the regiment arrived. Heising died in this house on June 10, 1809.

family

He married on January 2, 1775 in Seitkow Johanna Hermine Caroline Auguste von Kleist (* April 16, 1752, † April 3, 1804) from the House of Siedkow.
