Ludwig von Münchow

Anton Bogislav Eduard Ludwig von Münchow (born February 28, 1802 in Eichenberge , Neustettin district , † March 24, 1882 in Erfurt ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and from 1838 to 1864 owner of the Taubenthal estate .

Life

Ludwig was a son of the Prussian major and later postmaster Georg von Münchow (1779-1859) and his wife Friederike Johanna Luise, born von Knobelsdorff (1778-1814) from the Mansfelde house.

Military career

Münchow visited the Berlin Cadet House and was employed on April 4, 1819 as a portepeefähnrich in the 31st Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army . There he was promoted to secondary lieutenant at the end of September 1820 and was an adjutant of the 1st battalion from 1824 to 1835 . In this position he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on March 9, 1833 . From 1835 to 1838 he was then regimental adjutant and rose to captain and company commander on March 22, 1840 . On March 21, 1848, Münchow came as a major and battalion commander in the 34th Infantry Regiment , where he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1853 . On June 2, 1853, he was transferred to Erfurt as second in command, and on July 14, 1853, he was employed à la suite of the 34th Infantry Regiment. When he was appointed commander of the 2nd Battalion, Münchow returned to the 31st Infantry Regiment on April 25, 1854. This was followed by his appointment as commander of the 33rd Infantry Regiment on June 26, 1856 and promotion to colonel on June 26, 1856 . In position à la suite of his regiment, he was promoted to commander of the 20th Infantry Brigade on November 22, 1858 and promoted to major general on May 31, 1859 . On the occasion of the coronation celebrations of King Wilhelm I , he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd Class with Oak Leaves, on October 18, 1861 . On April 7, 1863, Münchow was put up for disposal with the character of Lieutenant General with a pension . He died on March 24, 1882 in Erfurt.

family

He married Luise Werneburg (1811–1900) on September 20, 1823 in Erfurt. The daughter Anna († 1857) emerged from the marriage and in 1857 she married Lieutenant Colonel Jobst von Dewitz (1824-1892).
