Lufkin is a town of 34,594 inhabitants in Angelina County in the US state of Texas and the administrative center of the county. The city has an area of ​​69.5 km 2 .

history

The town was founded in 1882 and is named after Abraham P. Lufkin , a cotton merchant and councilor of Galveston . Lufkin was the father of Paul Bremond , president of the East and West Texas Railway , which served the city. Parts from the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster fell on Lufkin on February 1, 2003.
