Luigi Travaglino

Luigi Travaglino (born September 6, 1939 in Brusciano , Province of Naples , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Luigi Travaglino received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Nola on August 15, 1962 . He was skilled in canon law doctorate .

Travaglino graduated from the Pontifical Diplomatic Academy and entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1970 . At first he worked as an assistant secretary in the Apostolic Nunciature in Bolivia . In 1971 Luigi Travaglino became secretary of the Nunciature in Bolivia. Pope Paul VI bestowed on him on September 8, 1972 the title of chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ). From 1972 to 1973 Luigi Travaglino worked as a nunciature secretary in the Apostolic Nunciature in Ethiopia . In 1973 he moved to the Apostolic Nunciature in Portugal . In 1975 Luigi Travaglino became nunciature secretary for Scandinavia and in 1976 also nunciature secretary in Iceland . In 1977 he moved to the Apostolic Nunciature in Zaire . In 1979 Travaglino became an auditor in Zaire. Luigi Travaglino became an auditor in El Salvador in 1981 . In 1983 he moved to the Apostolic Nunciature in the Netherlands . 1984 Luigi Travaglino was Nuntiaturrat in the Apostolic Nunciature in the Netherlands. On March 25, 1985, Pope John Paul II awarded him the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness . Travaglino became a Nunciature Council in Greece in 1986 . In 1989 he became a Nunciature Councilor in the service of the General Affairs Section of the Vatican State Secretariat . In 1990 Luigi Travaglino was appointed Nunciature Councilor in the service of the Section for Relations with the States of the Vatican State Secretariat.

On April 4, 1992 him Pope John Paul II appointed. Titular Archbishop of Litterae and pro-nuncio in Gambia , Guinea and Liberia and donated him on April 26 of that year in St. Peter's Basilica , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Sodano and the Archbishop of Krakow , Cardinal Franciszek Macharski .

On May 2, 1995, Luigi Travaglino was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Nicaragua . On October 30, 2001, John Paul II appointed him official in the Vatican State Secretariat.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him permanent observer at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) on January 5, 2011 . In addition, Benedict XVI called him. on September 8, 2012 as Apostolic Nuncio in Monaco .

His tenure as nuncio in Monaco ended on January 16, 2016 with the appointment of his successor.
