Lukas Thürauer (born December 21, 1987 in Vienna ) is an Austrian football player .

Career

society

Thürauer began his career in the youth of his home clubs Bergern SV and Kremser SC . As a result, he was accepted into the youth performance center (later the academy) St. Pölten. In 2005, a stroke of fate occurred when he was diagnosed with cancer. A professional career was a long way off. However, the treatments were positive and Thürauer was able to defeat the cancer.

In January 2007 the jump to the academy-related SKN St. Pölten took place. As a result, he already had strong performances in the Regionalliga Ost . At the end of the 2007/08 season he celebrated with the team the championship title in the Regionalliga Ost and the associated promotion to the first division .

In the 2008/09 season he caused a sensation with an extremely young St. Pölten team. In the end, they finished 5th in the table. In person, his season was crowned "Young Star of the Year". He was able to record eight goals in 32 games of the season.

After several inquiries from the Bundesliga regarding a possible transfer from Thürauer, he extended his contract with St. Pölten until 2010.

Various football experts attest Thürauer's great talent. Furthermore, as a central midfielder with Austrian citizenship, he enjoys a kind of “exotic status”, since this position in Austrian football is mostly occupied by legionnaires.

On January 20, 2012 it was announced that Thürauer was moving to FC Trenkwalder Admira in the Bundesliga. For the Südstädter, he completed a total of 83 games for the Südstädter and scored eight goals. During the winter break of the 2014/15 season, he moved to the first division for his youth club SKN St. Pölten on 7 January 2015. There he received a contract until summer 2016. In return, Konstantin Kerschbaumer moved from St. Pölten to Mödling. In 2016 he was promoted to the Bundesliga with SKN St. Pölten .

In January 2018 he terminated his contract with SKN and ended his professional career. He then moved to fourth-rate Kremser SC that same month.

National team

So far, Thürauer has only been appointed to the Austrian U-20 squad in 2007 by the then team boss Paul Gludovatz for the friendly international match against Switzerland.
