Lyndon Svi Byers (born February 29, 1964 in Nipawin , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 316 games for the Boston Bruins and San Jose Sharks in the National Hockey League in the course of his active career between 1981 and 1995 of the left winger .
Career
Byers first played for three years from 1981 to 1984 with the Regina Pats in the Western Hockey League . In the WHL he collected 202 points in a total of 185 games. During this time he was selected in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft in the second round in 39th position by the Boston Bruins .
After the end of the 1983/84 WHL season, the Bruins committed the left winger and used him in the ten remaining games of the season in the National Hockey League . With the Bruins, the Canadian also spent the following eight seasons until the end of the 1991/92 season . However, he never got to work for a regular place in the NHL squad, but spent the seasons mostly in equal parts between the American Hockey League at the Maine Mariners and the Boston Bruins in the NHL. He played most of the NHL games in the 1987/88 season with 53. At the same time, he reached further career records with 24 points and 236 penalty minutes. After his contract in Boston had expired after the 1991/92 season, he moved as a free agent to the San Jose Sharks , where he only played in 18 NHL games in the 1992/93 season and released in March 1993 from the contractual relationship has been.
The following year Byers moved to the International Hockey League , where he spent the playing years 1993/94 and 1994/95. He then ended his career and returned to Boston, where he worked as a radio host.
International
At the international level, Byers took part in the 1984 Junior World Championship in Sweden , where he finished fourth with the Canadian U20 national team . The striker scored twice in six tournament appearances.
