history

The earliest written document is from 1433 and reads "dacz dem Öttleins". This is the genitive of the Old High German male name Otili. The M was added to the place name through incorrect hyphenation.

Mötlas that the district court Königswiesen (old Wallseer possession, Burgfried Königswiesen) belonged was in 1850 as an independent control community the judicial district Unterweißenbach allocated. In 1948 it was incorporated into Unterweißbach and Königswiesen. Due to the abolition of the Unterweißbach judicial district in 2003, the place is now part of the Freistadt judicial district , but the cadastral parish belongs to the Perg judicial district .

The Mötlas volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1912.
