Mădăras ( Hungarian Madarász , Slovak Madaras , Ukrainian Медерас, Serbian Мадараш | Caution: д = д italic form ) is a municipality in the Bihor district in the historic Kreischgebiet in Romania .
Geographical location
The municipality of Mădăras is located in the Kreischgebiet in the east of the Great Hungarian Plain . The place Mădăras is located at Drum național 79 seven kilometers from the Hungarian border and three kilometers from the city of Salonta ; the district capital Oradea is located 30 km northeast. A branch of the Corhana Canal ( Canalul Corhana ) flows through Mădăras .
The municipality Madaras borders in the north on the community Cefa , in the east on the community Husasau de Tinca , in the southeast on community Tulca , on the south by the municipality Salonta and in the northwest to the Hungarian community Geszt .
Mădăras has the Mădăras thermal bath as a tourist attraction.
history
Mădăras was first mentioned in 1291 as "Madaraz". The village was founded at the end of the Árpáden period. The name comes from a royal bird watcher ("Madár" for bird). At the beginning of the 20th century, Mădăras belonged to the Salonta municipality. In Mădăras there are no street names, so every house is numbered, up to number 400. Thus the Strada Principală is given as the street name for the whole of Mădăras.

According to the 2011 census, the municipality of Mădăras had 2,828 inhabitants, of which 2,322 were Romanians . Other minorities were Slovaks (199), Roma (118) and Hungarians (107). Most of the residents are Orthodox, but there are also minorities such as Roman Catholics, Baptists and Reformed people.
Attractions
- In the incorporated village of Homorog (Hungarian Oláhhomorog ) the Orthodox church Naşterea Maicii Domnului , built in 1837, is a listed building.
