Mahitzschen is a district of Belgern-Schildau in the district of Northern Saxony in Saxony .

Mahitzschen is located northwest of the city of Belgern on the federal highway 182 in the Beckwitz-Belgernsche valley sand plain on the eastern edge of the Dahlener Heide and on the foothills of an oxbow lake of the Elbe .
history
The square village with the Gewannflur Mahitzschen was first mentioned in 1314 as Maschow , then the place name changed until it was spelled as it is today in 1791. From 1507 to 1880 the manor Mahitzschen was mentioned. The district comprised 750 hectares of land . From 1314 the higher authority was the Torgau Office , from 1816 the Torgau district and its successors.
From 1529 it is proven that the parish parish in Belgern. On July 1, 1950 Döbeltitz was incorporated. The municipality of Mahitzschen was incorporated into Belgern on April 1, 1993 . Since January 1st 2013 the place belongs to Belgern-Schildau.
The Mahitzschen loading point on the Torgau – Belgern railway line was closed in 1971 . The Belgern earthenware factory was responsible for the sporadic use of the railway line until 1991, which was shut down on December 31, 1995. Dismantling began in November 2004 .
