Taura is a hamlet-like district of the town of Belgern-Schildau in the district of Northern Saxony in Saxony .

Taura is located about 11 kilometers south of the district town of Torgau in northern Saxony . The area around the village of Taura is enclosed in a semicircle by the forests of the Dahlen Heath . The state road 24 opens the place up to traffic.
history
The square village with a corridor of 1142 hectares is an agricultural rural community. The village was first mentioned in 1198 with the name Henricus Turowe . The official authority had been in Torgau since 1551 . In 1818 there were 288 residents in the village and 748 in 1964, who were parish in Beckwitz. Since January 1st, 2013 the village belongs to the town of Belgern-Schildau.

In the district of Taura is the seat of the forest district Taura of the state enterprise Sachsenforst, which extends over an area of 1770 square kilometers and includes large parts of the Dahlener Heide and the Dübener Heide . The towns of Delitzsch , Eilenburg , Bad Düben , Torgau , Dommitzsch , Belgern-Schildau and Dahlen are located in the Taura forest district . The rivers Elbe and Mulde flow through the forest district .
