He was also head of the cultural department of Europeonline-magazine .

Life

Manfred G. Dinnes traveled through Europe (Spain), the Middle East (Turkey, Syria and Iraq) and North Africa (Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania) to study other cultures. To finance the trips he worked as a dock worker, ship mechanic, truck driver. After a serious illness, he returned to Europe in 1972. In 1973/74 he trained as a church painter and restorer . He also got to know the craft of glass painting and glass blowing at the Zwiesel Glass School . In 1974 he began studying painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg with Gerhard Wendland , Ludwig Scharl and Franz Winzinger . In 1976 he married Karin Hahn from Regensburg. In 1977 and 1978 he received academy prizes in Nuremberg. In 1978 he became a master student of Gerhard Wendland.

He graduated from the Nuremberg academy on March 31, 1979 "with very good success". Dinnes went into freelance artistic activity and set up a studio. In 1980 he organized the exhibition "Europe on the Threshold - Young Art in Europe" on behalf of the Thomas Dehler Institute . The exhibition shown in Regensburg with the participation of 30 artists from nine countries was then shown in Berlin, Bremen, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Rome, Strasbourg and Munich. In 1980 he was awarded the City of Regensburg's Culture Promotion Prize by Mayor Friedrich Viehbacher and on this occasion an exhibition was organized in the Museum of the City of Regensburg / Gallery of the 20th Century. For this purpose, the artist's monograph “Mirror of Becoming” was published with an introduction by L. Fischer, Los Angeles. In 1988 he continued his education with a degree at the University of Fine Arts, Berlin (cultural pedagogical department of Department II). In the 1990s he began his art education work with students from several Regensburg schools.

In 1990 he accepted the invitation to two study visits to Počitelj in Bosnia-Herzegovina . The result was the painting cycle “West-Eastern Divan”, a homage to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , as an expression of the cultural encounter. In 1991 we started working with the humanities scholar and ophthalmologist Nadim Sradj. Together they developed a theory of perception which forms the basis for axiomatic theory and its application in art . Here the different perceptions of one and the same object are thematized by different cultures. B. can also be causes of conflicts. Several exhibitions and book presentations in Regensburg, Paris, Aleppo (Syria) were organized to reflect the findings . The highlight of this project work was the presentation of the theoretical results by Sradj at the United Nations in New York on April 12, 2007.

In 1992 he went to Helsinki to study at the invitation of the Finnish cultural authorities and the Kleinsassen art station . In 1992 Manfred Dinnes, together with the artist Johanna Obermüller and the Federal Association of Visual Artists, took a protective stand against the artist Erwin Eisch against right-wing attacks. As an artist, he took a stand against right-wing extremist tendencies on other occasions as well. At the end of 1992 he sent his cycle of paintings “West-Eastern Divan” on the Ukrainian ship MS Moldavia down the Danube in order to promote understanding between the peoples of the neighboring countries with art after the border opening in 1989 on the European waterway as an old cultural artery.

In 1993 he organized the exhibition "60 years after the Nazis came to power" on behalf of the professional association of visual artists in Regensburg. In 1994 Dinnes decided to provide practical help for the war-affected areas in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He became a co-founder and board member of the company “Bridges - for Humanity, Culture, Tolerance and Dialogue e. V. “In cooperation with the EU administrator in front of Mostar at that time , he organized numerous aid transports which, in addition to food donations, enabled the establishment of an emergency hospital, the provision of dental care and the establishment of a container kindergarten. As a freelancer for the Mittelbayerische Zeitung , he delivered numerous reports from the crisis area. He published two books on the subject: in 1995 in the MZ publishing house "Sarajewo - a Bosnian diary" and in 1998 "Homage to Mostar", in which the artistic processing of the problem was documented.

In 1997 he was appointed Professor of Intercultural Cooperation at the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar and Professor of Free Painting and Glass Design at the Sarajevo Art Academy . At the same time he was commissioned to build a culture and artist house on the campus of Mostar University. He held these professorships until 2002, commuting from Regensburg to Sarajevo and Mostar again and again, organized other aid transports and, as co-founder and temporarily president of the German-Bosnian-Herzogovinischen Wirtschaftsklubs e. V. Projects of economic cooperation on the way. At the same time he became editor-in-chief of the bilingual magazine "Dialog".

From 2002, after his commitment in Southeast Europe, he concentrated on building up his new project "Atelier & Galerie St. Johann", founded in 1999, in the area around Regensburg. In 2005 he was invited as an “Ambassador” to the organization of the World Oriental Music Festival in Sarajevo in order to help normalize the situation in the field of music.

In 2005 he took part in the Intercultural conference: Shaping Communities in Times of Crisis (Narratives of Land, Peoples and Identities) at the International Center of Bethlehem in Palestine . Here he was invited as a consultant by Reverend Mitri Raheb , the head of this center, who received the Aachen Peace Prize in 2008 . The organizers tried to get to know his experiences and assessments in the conflict area Mostar for the conflict zone Palestine and to make them usable. Raheb also wants to use art to overcome conflicts, for example by setting up an art academy.

In 2006 he was a co-founder and board member of the cultural theater company “Regensburger Doana-Gsindl”, which is dedicated to the themes of customs ( riot act ) and historical scenes. In 2007 he was one of the co-founders of the group "Visual - Art Concepts". As a result, he created large sculptures together with Armin Karl (technical director). In 2008 Dinnes took part in the Entente Florale in Regensburg's Herzogspark with the sculpture “Metamorphosis 2008” .

In 2009 he performed the play " Haberfeldtreiben " in collaboration with Wilhelm Kaltenstadler . Works

painting

Glass art

The craftsmanship and technical skills acquired at the Zwiesel Glass School enabled Dinnes to take over the furnishing of churches. In the 1980s and 1990s he made a number of glass sculptures, e.g. B. also the floating glass sculpture in a foyer of the hospital of the merciful brothers in Regensburg. He took part in exhibitions "Contemporary Glass" in Chartres (1985/1987) and Nîmes (1987). In 1984 the St. Benedikt stained glass window design was created in Regensburg-Oberisling.

Sculptures

Theater projects

In 2013, the play “Dante, Death and the Devil” to Dante's “Divine Comedy” was staged posthumously in the Tucherschloss in Nuremberg. Before his suicide, Dinnes developed the concept together with the cultural manager and dramaturge Susanne Gße and the choreographer Martin Gruber .

Theorists in dialogue
