MarShon Scitif Brooks (born January 26, 1989 in Long Branch , New Jersey ) is an American basketball player who is currently under contract with the Guangdong Southern Tigers in the Chinese CBA .

Career

NCAA (2007 to 2011)

After graduating from high school in Tucker, Georgia , Brooks returned to the northeastern United States and played basketball in the NCAA's Big East Conference with the Friars College team while studying at Providence College . In his first and second seasons there he didn't get much playing time, but in his third season there he became an important part of the team, scoring 14.2 points per game, including a 24-point game in which he also had 5 steals reached. On January 23, 2010, he managed a 25-point and 5 rebound game.

In his senior season, he then improved to 24.6 points per game and was named one of 20 finalists for the John R. Wooden Award. In one game he scored 52 points, which equalized the school record and at the same time surpassed the old record from the Big East, 48 points, by Eric Murdock. Since he also reached 43 points against Georgetown in the same season, he became the third player of the Providence Friars , who could hang up two 40-point games in one season.

NBA (2011 to 2014)

Brooks was selected as the 25th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics , who shortly thereafter gave him up in a rights swap to the New Jersey Nets . Brooks quickly became an important performer in his debut season and was mostly part of the starting five . In his second season, when the Nets moved to Brooklyn , New York and henceforth called themselves "Brooklyn Nets", Brooks only came off the bench as a substitute player and his average playing time was cut in half to about twelve minutes per game.

After two seasons he was transferred to the Boston Celtics as part of a nine-player swap that included former NBA All-Stars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce , which had originally drafted him two years earlier. At the Celtics, Brooks' playing time was reduced to ten minutes per game in ten missions in the NBA 2013/14 and he was posted to the Maine Red Claws farm team in the NBA Development League (D-League) in January 2014 .

In mid-January Brooks was brought back to the squad to be handed over to the Golden State Warriors in another player swap. On the west coast he came on seven short assignments and was also posted to the farm team, the Santa Cruz Warriors in the D-League. After a month, the Warriors sent Brooks together with Kent Bazemore in exchange for Steve Blake to the Californian competitor Los Angeles Lakers , where Brooks came to 18 missions with about twelve minutes average playing time by the end of the season.

Olimpia Milano (2014 to 2015)

For the 2014/15 season, Brooks signed a contract with the Italian record champions Olimpia Milano from Milan , who, as the reigning champion, also takes part in the highest-ranking European club competition ULEB Euroleague 2014/15 .
