Mara Cassens Prize

The Mara Cassens Prize for the first novel is awarded annually by the Hamburg Literature House . The prize, donated by Mara Cassens in 1970 , is currently the most highly endowed literary prize in Germany for a German-language novel debut at 15,000 euros . It is awarded by an honorary readers' jury, which is made up of 15 new members of the Literaturhaus Hamburg e. V. composed.

Award winners

Between 2013 and 2018, the debut works by women writers received awards six times in a row.

The publisher with the most award winners is Suhrkamp (six wins), followed by S. Fischer and Luchterhand (four wins each).
