Marcin Krukowski (born June 14, 1992 in Warsaw ) is a Polish athlete who specializes in javelin throwing. He has held the national record since 2017.

Life

Marcin Krukowski comes from Warsaw and is the son of the former Polish javelin throwers Michał Krukowski and Agnieszka Krukowska . Today he is trained by his father.

Athletic career

Krukowski has competed in javelin throwing since 2008. In 2009 he became Polish U18 champion and in the same month competed at the U18 World Championships in Brixen, where he finished fourth with a width of 72.09 m. In 2010 he moved up in the U20 age group and has been throwing with a casting weight of 800 g ever since. In July he took part in the U20 World Championships in Moncton, Canada, where he failed in qualifying. In 2011 he improved his best performance to almost 80 meters and was able to win the silver medal at the U20 European Championships in Tallinn with 79.19 m in the summer . In 2012 he improved again by more than three meters.

In July 2013, Krukowski went to the U23 European Championships in Tampere, where he finished ninth. A month later he took part in the international championships in adults for the first time at the World Championships in Moscow. Compared to the European Championships, he threw on, but could clearly not qualify for the final. In 2015, Krukowski was the first Polish champion among adults. In August he took part in the World Championships in Beijing, where he finished 21st. In 2016 he first competed at the European Championships in Amsterdam, where he finished sixth with 79.49 m. He achieved a slightly improved distance a month later at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, which did not quite make it into the finals and meant a total of 15th place. In July 2017, Krukwoski set a new Polish national record in Białystok with 88.09 m. A month later he made it to the finals at the World Championships in London, where he finished ninth with 82.01 m. In August, the student of the Akademia Leona Koźmińskiego took part in the Universiade in Taipei, where he took fifth place.

In August 2018, Krukowski finished fourth with 84.55 m at the European Championships in Berlin. In 2019, he achieved seventh place at the World Championships in Doha, his best ever result at the World Championships.
