Marija Vuković (born January 21, 1992 in Cetinje ) is a Montenegrin high jumper .

Athletic career

Marija Vuković gained her first experience at international championships at the age of fifteen at the 2007 Youth World Championships in Ostrava , where she was eliminated with 1.65 m in the qualification, as well as at the Junior World Championships in Bydgoszcz a year later. In 2009 she was fifth at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara and ninth at the World Youth Championships in Bressanone . A few weeks later she won the silver medal at the Junior European Championships in Novi Sad, Serbia, with a jump of 1.89 m. In 2010 she won the gold medal at the Junior World Championships in Moncton and thus qualified for the European Championships in Barcelona , where she was eliminated with 1.87 m in qualification.

In 2011 she won the gold medal at the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) and finished eighth at the European Junior Championships in Tallinn . At the World Championships in Daegu , South Korea , she was eliminated this time with 1.80 m in qualification. In 2013 she won the gold medal at the GSSE in Luxembourg. In 2015 she took part in the European Indoor Championships in Prague , but failed to qualify for the final again. In contrast, she won the GSSE in Reykjavík for the third time. At the first European Games in Baku she also won gold and took fourth place at the Student World Games in Gwangju . In 2016 she took part in the European Championships in Amsterdam , but retired there with 1.85 m in the qualification, as well as at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade in 2017 . At the GSSE in Serravalle she won for the fourth time in a row and also qualified for the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated with 1.85 m in the qualification . At the Universiade in Taipei two weeks later, she again took fourth place.
