Mario Lohninger (born August 22, 1973 in Saalfelden ) is an Austrian cook , restaurateur and cookbook author.

Life

Mario Lohninger comes from a gastronomy family . The grandfather was a baker , the father the head chef in the family restaurant in Leogang near Zell am See . After his apprenticeship as a chef at the Hotel Brandlhof in Saalfelden , Lohninger worked worldwide in Germany, USA, France, Japan and Thailand.

From 2003 Mario Lohninger operational in with his friend Sven Väth jointly established Cocoon Club ( Frankfurt ), the restaurant Micro and with a Michelin star awarded restaurant Silk . In addition to the classic gourmet kitchen, he provided catering for events in the Cocoon Club for up to 1,500 people and offered cooking courses for ambitious amateur cooks.

In spring 2010 he opened his own Lohninger restaurant in Frankfurt . Mario Lohninger managed three restaurants with different kitchens and combined a total of 51 points from Gault Millau under his patronage . In mid-2012 he closed the Micro and Silk restaurants in order to concentrate on the Lohninger in the future, in which his parents and his partner also work.

After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 , Mario Lohninger cooked for the rescue teams at Ground Zero . In the following three months, he and his team of 200 organized up to 30,000 meals a day. As before, Lohninger is involved in charity projects such as "Frankfurt shares" in 2010 and "Top chefs for Africa" ​​in 2011.
