Euriad
The Euriade is an international festival of dialogue in the Eurode and the Euregio Meuse-Rhine organized annually since 1975 by the “Stichting Euriade” (Dutch association) and the Euriade eV .
Events
As part of this festival, various classical music performances and music competitions , a series of youth in dialogue with young people from the Euregio Meuse-Rhine and other countries ( Austria , Russia , Ukraine, South Africa, Palestine, Croatia etc.), concerts, readings and art exhibitions take place instead of. The venues include the Rolduc Abbey ( Kerkrade , Netherlands), Rode Castle ( Herzogenrath ), the Alte Kurhaus Aachen , and other venues in the Netherlands and Germany. The director of the Euriade is Werner Janssen .
From January 27th to 28th, 2008 the Stichting Euriade held a Charlemagne Festival on the subject of liberation from Auschwitz in Aachen , Heerlen , Kerkrade and Eupen .
Until 2013, the Euriade Foundation regularly organized the Prix amadéo de piano , an international competition for young artists and the AmadèO music festival with classical concerts.
Martin Buber badge
The Stichting Euriade has been awarding the Martin Buber plaque every year since 2002 for special services to humanity. The plaque was designed by the Aachen artist Martha Klems .

- 2003: Richard von Weizsäcker (former Federal President) (laudation: Dries van Agt )
- 2004: Karlheinz Böhm , founder of the aid organization Menschen für Menschen , for his many years of commitment in Ethiopia (laudation: Fritz Pleitgen )
- 2005: Herman van Veen , musician, UNICEF ambassador and founder of the Foundation For the Rights of the Child (laudation: Sabine Christiansen )
- 2006: Klaus Maria Brandauer for his charitable commitment as part of the Karin Brandauer Foundation (laudation: Campino , who knows Brandauer through the production of the Threepenny Opera in Berlin .)
- 2007: Waris Dirie for her commitment against genital mutilation . (Laudation: Verena Kulenkampff )
- 2008: Mikhail Gorbachev received the plaque together with his daughter Irina Gorbachev . The laudation was given by Hans-Dietrich Genscher
- 2009: Liesje and Hugo Tempelman
- 2010: HRH Princess Irene van Lippe-Biesterfeld
- 2011: Peter Maffay
- 2012: Garri Kasparow for his commitment to children and young people in a chess foundation he founded. (Laudation: Daniel Cohn-Bendit )
- 2013: Hans-Dietrich Genscher . The original award ceremony on November 15 was postponed to February 7, 2014 in the Rolduc Abbey in Kerkrade due to the laureate's illness (laudators: Klaus Kinkel and Dries van Agt )
- 2014: Queen Silvia of Sweden was honored on November 25, 2014 in the Rolduc Abbey in Kerkrade, Netherlands (laudatory speech: Liz Mohn )
- 2015: Thomas Quasthoff , awarded on November 27, 2015 (laudation: Peter Alferink )
