Martin Delius (born April 26, 1984 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German politician . In 2011 he was for the Pirate Party in the Berlin House of Representatives voted. There he was chairman of the pirate faction and the committee of inquiry to clarify the cost and deadline overruns in the construction of the Berlin Brandenburg airport . In September 2016, Delius joined the Left Party .

Life

Delius grew up in New Lübbenau in the lower Spreewald and consisted 2003 Baccalaureate at the Paul-Gerhardt-Gymnasium in Luebben in the Spreewald . At the Spreewald Biosphere Reserve he did his community service in the field of environmental education until June 2004 . He studied physics at the Technical University of Berlin from 2004 to 2011 , was involved in university politics and was a member of several university committees. Among other things, he was the spokesman for the Broad Left Alliance (BreiLiBü) at the TU Berlin . From June to November 2011 he worked as a software developer in Pavel Mayer's companyemployed. Since 2017 he has worked in the government planning department in the Berlin Senate Chancellery .

In mid-2009 he joined the Pirate Party and was among other things a judge in the arbitration tribunal of his regional association. Together with other party members, he was involved in the nationwide introduction of the LiquidFeedback software for internal party opinion formation; he administered this software for the party at the federal level.

In the election on September 18, 2011 , Martin Delius, who was number 4 on the state list of the Pirate Party Berlin , was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives. At the same time he ran as a direct candidate in the Pankow 3 constituency and for the district council assembly in the Mitte district of Berlin. Since a parallel exercise of the House of Representatives mandate and BVV mandate is not legally possible, he waived the latter.

At the end of September 2011, the pirate faction in the House of Representatives elected him as Parliamentary Managing Director . On February 21, 2012 the parliamentary group nominated Delius together with Katja Dathe as the representative of the Pirate Party in the election of the German Federal President 2012 .

On April 22, 2012, Delius came under fire for a comparison between the success of the Pirate Party and the rapid rise of the NSDAP between 1928 and 1933. He then apologized for the statement on his blog and withdrew his candidacy for the federal board of the Pirate Party.

In October 2012, at the request of the opposition factions, the House of Representatives set up a committee of inquiry into the delays in the commissioning of the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport . According to the principle of rotation, the pirate faction was entitled to chair the committee. Delius, who had already been nominated as chairman in advance, gave up his position as parliamentary manager of the parliamentary group on June 20, 2012 and was elected chairman of the committee of inquiry on October 19, 2012. Heiko Herberg became his successor as managing director on June 22, 2012 .

On January 24, 2014, Delius presented to the public an interim report on the BER investigation committee that had been written together with Benedict Ugarte Chacón. On May 20, 2014, the pirate faction in the House of Representatives elected Martin Delius together with Alexander Spies as their chairman. On December 14, 2015, he announced that he was leaving the Pirate Party . Together with other former party members, Delius announced on January 21, 2016 that he would support the party Die Linke in the future . He joined the Left Party on September 8, 2016. In the election to the Berlin House of Representatives in 2016 , he did not appear again.

Since 2017 Delius has been working as a representative of the left in the government planning department at the Senate Chancellery , which is supposed to plan and coordinate the joint government action of the red-red-green coalition .
