Career

Martin Schweiger began his career at EC Peiting , for which he played in the second-class 1st ice hockey league south in the 1997/98 season. Before that he also played for the juniors of ESV Kaufbeuren in the junior Bundesliga. In 1998 the EC Peiting was downgraded to the fourth-class 2nd League South and Schweiger scored a total of 43 scorer points in 48 games in the 1998/99 season. In the summer of 1999 he moved to EV Regensburg , for which he was active in the league for the next two years. He then returned to his home club for a season before he was signed by ESV Kaufbeuren. For the Buron Joker he was active in the 2nd Bundesliga for the next four years , increasing his points count from year to year and was thus also observed by the talent scouts of the DEL clubs. After he had achieved a total of 58 scorer points in 58 season games for the Joker in the 2005/06 season , he received a contract with the Duisburger Füchsen from the German Ice Hockey League.

The Füchse Duisburg strengthened themselves in December 2006 with defender Michael Hrstka from the second division club SC Bietigheim-Bissingen . In return, Martin Schweiger from Duisburg moved to the Steelers. Schweiger played for the Steelers until 2008 before moving to the Ravensburg Tower Stars . He stayed in Ravensburg for a season and then returned to his home club. He spent the 2010/11 season at EHC Dortmund and in May 2011 he signed a contract with Boris Ackers from the Löwen Frankfurt . After a season in Frankfurt, in which he also acted as team captain, he moved to Deggendorf Fire for the 2012/13 season , which he left after only one season. Since the 2013/14 season, Schweiger has played for the Memminger Indians in the highest Bavarian amateur league and after two years in Memmingen, he moved to the Oberliga-Süd at ERC Sonthofen .
