Martín Vázquez

Martín Emilio Vázquez Broquetas (born January 14, 1969 ) is a Uruguayan football referee .

Vázquez began his referee career in the Primera División Profesional de Uruguay in the 1998 season. He has been a FIFA referee since 2001 . He directed his first international match ( Venezuela - Argentina ) on September 9, 2003.

He participated as a referee at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and directed qualifying games for the 2006 and 2010 World Championships .

After the Paraguayan referee Carlos Amarilla was removed from the squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa , Vázquez was nominated as a replacement. At the tournament he was the fourth official in the group stage and the round of 16 six times .

Vázquez lives in Montevideo and is an employee .
