Career

The international music world only became aware of the accordionist when he won the Got Talent television competition in Lithuania . Levickis had taken part in the competition as a student of the Royal Academy of Music without their knowledge and integrated contemporary music and singing into his performances in addition to classical interpretations. Videos from the Lithuanian television program reached the UK via YouTube and social networks. Back in London, Levickis was amazed at the wide positive response to his music performance. The music agent Rick Blaskey became aware of the young musician through a YouTube video and negotiated a recording contract for Levickis with the record label Decca Records . Martyna's repertoire deliberately crosses genre boundaries and ranges from baroque to contemporary music. The focus is on classical music, but with a keen experimentation he also arranges folk tunes and popular music compositions for his instrument. Levickis sees himself as an accordion ambassador: "I have resolved to redefine the image of the accordion and to show that this instrument can be used in an extremely versatile manner".

Levickis has been Artistic Director of the Palendriai International Composers' Course and Festival in Lithuania since it was founded in 2014 .
