Maryann Plunkett
Maryann Plunkett (* 1953 in Lowell , Massachusetts ) is an American film, television and theater actress .
Life
Plunkett graduated from the University of New Hampshire and was a founding member of the Portland Stage repertoire group in Maine in 1976 . She made her professional stage debut in Albert Ramsdell Gurney's Scenes From an American Life . She then appeared on Broadway , where she first played Agnes in Agnes of God as a replacement for Amanda Plummer and then took on the role of Dot in Sunday in the Park with George for Bernadette Peters in 1985 . In 1986 she played the leading role Sally Smith in Me and My Girl , for which she received a Tony Award in 1987 for Best Actress in a Musical in addition to a Drama Desk Award nomination . She was part of Tony Randall's National Actors Theater company, for which she appeared in several Broadway plays, including the 1991 revival of Arthur Miller's Witch Hunt , in which she played Elizabeth Proctor opposite Martin Sheen as John Proctor, and in 1992 as Marcelle Paillardin in Georges Feydeau and Maurice Desvallières ' A Little Hotel on the Side , as Kaja Fosli in Henrik Ibsen's The Master Builder and as Masha in Anton Chekhov's The Seagull, and in 1993 as Joan in Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan . She starred as Alice More in the 2008 Broadway production of Robert Bolt's A Man for All Seasons . 2,013 she received for her work in the Off-Broadway -Stück Sorry another Drama Desk Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama.
As a film and television actress, she starred in the films Claire Dolan (1998), Center Stage (2000), Blue Valentine (2010), Fairhaven (2012), Mad (2016) and Youth in Oregon (2016). TV series she has appeared on include Miami Vice (1984), Starship Enterprise - The Next Century (1991), in which she starred Lt. in the episode The Unknown Shadow . Cmdr. Susanna Leijten embodied, Law & Order (1996–2002), Rubicon (2010), House of Cards (2013–2014) and The Gabriels: Election Year in the Life of One Family (2017).
Since October 1991 she has been married to the actor Jay O. Sanders , with whom she has a son.
