Masahito Haruna ( Japanese 春 名 真 仁 Haruna Masahito ; born July 16, 1973 in Kushiro , Hokkaidō ) is a former Japanese ice hockey goalkeeper who won the Asia League Ice Hockey twice with the Ōji Eagles .

Career

Masahito Haruna began his career with Furukawa Electric in the Japanese ice hockey league . In 1999 he moved to the Nikkō IceBucks , with whom he played from 2003 in the newly founded Asia League Ice Hockey . After they could not reach any top places there, he moved to the Ōji Eagles in 2006 . With the team from Tomakomai he was able to win this Asian professional league in 2008 and 2012. In 2010 he was voted top goalkeeper in the Asia League with the best catch rate, and in 2012 and 2013 he had the lowest rate of goals conceded per game in the league. In the 2014/15 season , Haruna was the Eagles' player-coach. In 2015 he moved back to Nikko, where he ended his career in 2016.

International

For the Japanese men's selection , Haruna was nominated for the first time on the occasion of the C-World Championship in 1997 , but was not yet used in this tournament. He later represented his colors at the World Championships in the top division in 2000 and 2003 , when he was also used for the first time in two games. 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , when he achieved the third-best quota of the tournament after the Hungarian Levente Szuper and the Kazak Ihor Karpenko , in 2009 , when he again achieved the third-best quota of the tournament after the Kazakhs Alexei Kuznetsov and the Slovenian Andrej Hočevar , 2010 , when he had the best catch rate and the lowest conceded goal rate per game of the tournament, and in 2012 , when he achieved the second best catch rate after the Slovenian Robert Kristan , he played with Japan in Division I. He also took part in the qualifying tournaments for the Winter Olympics 2010 and 2014 participated. At the Winter Asian Games 2007 he won the title with the Japanese, four years later it was enough after a 1: 4 defeat in the decisive game against Kazakhstan to second place.
