Mateusz Rompkowski (born June 8, 1986 in Gdansk ) is a Polish ice hockey player who has been under contract with KS Cracovia in the Ekstraliga since 2015 .

Career

Club

Mateusz Rompkowski began his career in the youth department of Stoczniowiec Gdańsk . In 2002 he moved to the youth academy of the Polish ice hockey association , for whose teams he was on the ice for three years in the second-class I league . After three years in Sosnowiec , he returned to his home club in Gdansk . With the team from the Baltic Sea he played a total of six years in the Ekstraliga , the highest Polish league. When Stoczniowiec withdrew from the game in 2011 for financial reasons, Rompkowski, who had just been nominated for the all-star game of the previous season, switched to league competitor JKH GKS Jastrzębie , with whom he won the Polish ice hockey cup in 2013 as the first title in club history . In the same year he was also Polish runner-up with the Silesians, a success that he was able to repeat two years later. Since 2015 he has also been playing for KS Cracovia in the Ekstraliga and won the double of championship and cup with the club in 2016 and the Polish championship again in 2017.

International

For Poland, Rompkowski took part in the junior division in the U18 World Championships in Division I in 2003 and 2004 and in the U20 World Championships in Division II in 2004 and Division I in 2005 and 2006 .

The defender played with the men's national team at the Division I World Championships in 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 when he was elected to the tournament's all-star team in 2017 and 2018 . He was also on the ice for his colors at the qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018 .
